Complete step-by-step instructions for Once Upon A Galaxy players on Android

1. Required Downloads

Main Application

Galaxy Overlay

The companion app featuring the floating HUD, live roll odds, shop tracking, and opponent radar.

System Bridge

Shizuku

The open-source privileged API bridge that grants Galaxy Overlay permission to read game logs.

2. First-Time Setup (One-Time Pairing)

Pairing only needs to be completed once. Future launches take less than 15 seconds.

1

Enable Developer Options

Open your phone's Settings app > About phone.

Scroll down to find Build number and tap it 7 times consecutively. Enter your device lock screen PIN/password if prompted.

2

Enable Wireless Debugging

Make sure your phone is currently connected to Wi-Fi.

Go to Settings > System > Developer options.

Scroll down to the Debugging section and toggle Wireless debugging to ON. Check Always allow on this network and tap Allow.

3

Pair Shizuku

Open the Shizuku app and scroll down to the Start via Wireless Debugging section.

  • Tap Pairing, then verify Shizuku notifications are enabled.
  • Tap Developer options to return to the Wireless Debugging settings screen.
  • Tap the text Wireless debugging to open its full details, then tap Pair device with pairing code.
  • A 6-digit code will appear on screen. Pull down your notification shade, tap Enter pairing code on the Shizuku notification, enter the 6 digits, and submit.
You will see a notification confirming Pairing successful.
4

Start Shizuku Service

Switch back to the Shizuku app.

Under Start via Wireless Debugging, tap the Start button. A terminal window will execute for ~2 seconds, and the main screen will display Shizuku is running with a green indicator.

5

Launch Galaxy Overlay & Authorize

Open Galaxy Overlay from your app drawer or home screen.

  • If prompted, grant the Display over other apps permission so the floating HUD can render over the game.
  • When Shizuku prompts Allow Galaxy Overlay to access Shizuku?, tap Allow all the time.
  • The compact overlay HUD pill will appear on your screen.
6

Launch Once Upon A Galaxy

Open Once Upon A Galaxy. Tap the floating overlay pill anytime during a match to expand into the full companion HUD and view live stats, shop odds, and opponent boards.

3. Future Sessions Routine

You do not need to repeat the pairing process on future sessions. Simply follow this quick routine:

Step 1
Connect to Wi-Fi
Step 2
Open Shizuku & Tap Start
Step 3
Open Galaxy Overlay
Step 4
Play Galaxy!
Quick Settings Shortcut: You can add the Wireless Debugging tile to your Android Quick Settings panel (swipe down twice > tap the pencil edit icon). That way you can toggle it on with a single tap before opening Shizuku.

4. Frequently Asked Questions

Shizuku says "Wireless debugging is not connected"

Ensure your device is connected to an active Wi-Fi network. Android disables Wireless Debugging whenever Wi-Fi disconnects. Reconnect to Wi-Fi, toggle Wireless Debugging back on in Developer Options, and tap Start in Shizuku.

Shizuku says "Authorized applications: 0"

Open Galaxy Overlay; it requests permission automatically on startup. If you missed the prompt, open Shizuku > tap Authorized applications > toggle Galaxy Overlay to ON.

The floating HUD does not appear over the game

Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > Galaxy Overlay > Display over other apps and verify the toggle is enabled.

Do I have to pair every time I restart my phone?

No. Pairing is a one-time process. After restarting your phone, just connect to Wi-Fi, ensure Wireless Debugging is enabled, and tap Start in Shizuku.
